DMV Spotlight shines a light on DC Central Kitchen, now in it’s 31st year, with it’s unique approach to fighting hunger differently. Guest Mike Curtin Jr.,CEO of DC Central Kitchen explains how the non-profit and social enterprise provides culinary job training to adults to high barriers to employment. DC Central Kitchen is also committed to reducing food waste by re-purposing otherwise healthy food from the local hospitality industry and nearby farms for local communities and schools in need. One of it’s many programs is to provide both employment and fresh food options in Ward 8 through DC Central Kitchen Cafe and Catering. Curtin explains there are also many volunteer opportunities daily at DC Central Kitchen.
