Dallas Stars veteran forward Matt Duchene will be sidelined approximately three months to recover from core muscle surgery, the team announced Monday.
Placed on long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury the day before the start of the regular season, the 35-year-old has not appeared in a game this season. The Stars are 2-2-1 yet are tied for 26th in goals per game at 2.20.
Duchene recorded 16 goals and 29 assists in 57 games last season. The Haliburton, Ontario, native has suited up for five different NHL teams across 17 seasons with 387 goals and 549 assists across 1,195 games played. The two-time All-Star has eclipsed 70 points four times.
Duchene is in the second year of a four-year, $18-milion contract with the Stars.
