Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark won’t make it three consecutive appearances in an LPGA pro-am with golf superstar Nelly Korda.
The past two years, Clark joined Korda at The Annika by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla. But Golf Channel reported that the duo won’t be partners again for the Nov. 11 pro-am.
No reason was provided.
“She is not going to be playing this year,” Mike Nichols, chief of sponsorship strategy and activation for Group 1001, told Golfweek. “We have enjoyed the energy she has brought to the tournament the last two years and look forward to having her back in the future.”
Korda, a three-time winner at Pelican, is the No. 1 player in the world, and the 28-year-old will be one of the headliners of the event next month. Also expected at The Annika are defending champion Linn Grant and LPGA Hall of Fame member Lydia Ko.
Before teeing off at her first go-round at The Annika in 2024, Clark told GOLF magazine that she was just an “average” golfer.
“I’ve tried to practice as much as I can. I mean, you know, I’m just the average golfer. I’m going to hit some good, I’m going to hit some bad.”
Her superstardom hasn’t reached her golf game yet.
“My handicap is like 16,” she said in the interview, adding mid-80s is a strong round for her. “Stroke-a-hole, average golfer.”
“But usually I’m just praying to break 100.”
