The Chicago White Sox placed right-hander Luis Castillo on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right shoulder impingement and recalled right-hander Tyler Davis from Triple-A Charlotte.
Castillo, 33, gave up four runs on three hits and a walk in the ninth inning of the White Sox’s 14-11 victory over the host Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. He is a combined 4-11 with a 5.85 ERA in 29 appearances (23 starts) for the Seattle Mariners and White Sox this season.
Since joining Chicago at the trade deadline, Castillo is 1-2 with an 8.42 ERA in nine appearances, with his last three outings coming after he was moved to the bullpen.
Davis, 27, went 2-3 with one save and a 3.52 ERA in 29 relief appearances for the White Sox earlier this season after making his major league debut on April 25.
