Sam Antonacci went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs, and the host Chicago White Sox cruised to a 10-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday evening.
Kyle Teel hit a three-run homer for Chicago (75-68), which won the rubber match of the three-game series. Randal Grichuk went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and Tristan Peters finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs.
Brooks Lee went 2-for-3 with a solo home run to lead Minnesota (68-75).
White Sox left-hander Hagen Smith (3-1) struck out four batters in three scoreless innings out of the bullpen. He did not allow a hit or a walk.
Twins right-hander Bailey Ober (7-5) allowed one run on four hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out six.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning, when the White Sox finally punched through a run. Antonacci hit a leadoff double to left field, and Munetaka Murakami drove him in two batters later with a single to right.
The White Sox added three more runs in the sixth to seize a 4-0 lead. Antonacci stepped to the plate with runners on second and third and one out, and he capitalized with a two-run double to right-center. Grichuk singled later in the inning to drive in Antonacci.
The Twins got on the scoreboard thanks to Lee’s homer leading off the seventh. The 425-foot blast marked Lee’s 23rd homer of the season, extending his career high.
Chicago increased its lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the seventh. Miguel Vargas drew a bases-loaded walk that allowed Peters to jog in from third base.
The White Sox added five more runs in the eighth to seal the victory.
Grichuk led off the inning with a towering home run that landed in Chicago’s bullpen beyond the left field wall, and Peters hit a ground-rule double for another RBI.
Teel capped the scoring with a three-run shot to center. It was his first home run since July 5 against the Cleveland Guardians.
