The Los Angeles Dodgers added left-hander David Price to their National League Championship Series playoff roster on Friday.
The 36-year-old Price replaces right-hander Joe Kelly, who will miss the remainder of the postseason with biceps tightness in his pitching arm.
Price hasn’t appeared in a game this postseason even though he was active for the NL Division Series against the San Francisco Giants. He went 5-2 with a 4.03 ERA in 39 games (11 starts) in the regular season.
Price also was a member of Boston’s title team in 2018, but he opted out of the 2020 season, missing Los Angeles’ run to the championship.
He is 5-9 with 4.62 ERA in 23 career postseason appearances (14 starts) with the Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays and Red Sox.
The Dodgers trail 3-2 in the NLCS against the Atlanta Braves. Game 6 is Saturday in Atlanta.
Kelly was injured in the first inning of Thursday’s 11-2 victory. He departed after throwing 28 pitches.
