Giants TE Evan Engram (calf) listed as DNP Tuesday

Tight end Evan Engram was projected to miss practice Tuesday and the New York Giants listed running back Saquon Barkley as limited on the injury report released ahead of Thursday’s game at Washington.

The approximation of practice status for injured players is an NFL requirement on days when teams don’t hold a formal workout.

Engram is nursing a calf injury and did not practice last week or play in the Week 1 opener, but head coach Joe Judge said Monday that Engram made significant progress in the past week.

Barkley was also listed as limited on Monday.

He tallied 26 yards on 10 rushing attempts in Sunday’s 27-13 home loss to the Denver Broncos.

“I would say unless the medical team tells us something else, our intention is going to be to keep on progressing (Barkley) throughout the season and playing with him, unless there’s some kind of setback,” Judge said of Barkley. “Look, he came out Sunday night, from all accounts, in a good position. Our plan to this point is to go ahead and include him in the game plan as we work through this next day and a half.”

Engram could participate in a light workout with the team Wednesday but is expected to be a game-time decision.
