The Washington Capitals re-signed defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler to a one-year, $800,000 contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Siegenthaler, 23, had nine points (two goals, seven assists) in a career-high 64 games during the 2019-20 season. A Switzerland native, Siegenthaler led the Capitals and tied for 11th in the NFL in penalty kill minutes per game (3:11). He also ranked second for Washington with 105 blocked shots.
Siegenthaler has played two years in the NHL, both with the Capitals. In 90 career games, he has accumulated 13 points (two goals, 11 assists).
Washington selected Siegenthaler in the second round of the 2015 NHL draft with the 57th overall pick.
