Jason Robertson scored two goals for his fourth straight multi-point performance, fueling the host Dallas Stars to a 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday.
Robertson scored in the first period and converted on a breakaway in the third to boost his point total to 13 (five goals, eight assists) in his last nine games.
Wyatt Johnston and Tyler Seguin each collected a goal and an assist, Mikko Rantanen and Justin Hryckowian also tallied and Jake Oettinger made 17 saves to send the Stars to their fifth straight victory.
Dallas spoiled the return of Islanders head coach Pete DeBoer, who served as the Stars’ bench boss for three seasons (2022-25) — taking that club to the Western Conference final in each campaign.
New York’s Matthew Schaefer, 19, scored a goal for the second time in as many games and boosted his career total to 25, moving him past Hall of Famer Bobby Orr for the second most by a teenage defenseman in NHL history. Hall of Famer Phil Housley scored 46 goals before his 20th birthday.
Kyle Palmieri and Brayden Schenn also scored and Ilya Sorokin turned aside 32 shots for the Islanders, who saw their five-game point streak (3-0-2) come to a halt.
The Stars exhibited good puck movement in the offensive zone before Johnston converted from the slot to give his team a 4-3 lead at 4:10 of the third period.
Robertson doubled the advantage over 5 1/2 minutes later before Rantanen capped the scoring with 6:58 remaining in the third period.
Captain Jamie Benn led a 2-on-1 rush before feeding Seguin, who patiently waited before beating Sorokin inside the far post to open the scoring with 8:29 remaining in the first period.
Schaefer extended his point streak to four games just 2:12 later, forging a 1-1 tie after converting on a rush up the ice and wiring a shot from the left circle past Oettinger.
Robertson forced a turnover by Schenn and beat Sorokin to regain Dallas’ lead just 49 seconds later. However, Palmieri cleaned up a loose puck in front to level the contest at 4:01 of the second period.
The Stars claimed a 3-2 lead after defenseman Thomas Harley’s blast from the point sailed wide of the net and produced a juicy carom that Hryckowian tapped home.
Schenn converted in front to tie the game with 2:15 left in the second.
