Justin Barron had a goal and three assists in the St. Louis Blues’ 6-2 win over the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.
The Blues are on a two-game winning streak and are 3-0-1 on home ice this season.
It was a career night for Barron, who had never tallied more than two points in a game during his six NHL seasons. The defenseman had only nine points over 52 games with the Nashville Predators last season, and St. Louis claimed Barron off waivers from Nashville in late September.
Dylan Holloway had two goals and an assist, giving the forward 10 points (three goals, seven assists) during a six-game points streak.
Jimmy Snuggerud had a goal and an assist. Mason McTavish and Pavel Buchnevich scored the Blues’ other goals.
Joel Hofer stopped 27 of 29 shots to earn his fourth win of the season.
The Golden Knights have lost consecutive games for the first time this season, following another 6-2 defeat on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Brett Howden and Jack Eichel scored for the Knights. Adin Hill stopped 25 of 31 shots.
The Blues were 2-for-2 on the power play Thursday and are 6-for-17 in their last five games. Knights’ opponents are 9-for-28 this season against the struggling Vegas penalty-kill unit.
Buchnevich opened the scoring during a St. Louis power play 10 minutes into the first period.
At the 13:49 mark, Barron’s wrist shot from the circle deflected off the post and into the Knights’ net. Aleksanteri Kaskimaki earned an assist for the first point of his seven-game NHL career.
Howden put Vegas on the board 5:38 into the second period, depositing his own rebound after Howden’s initial tip-in attempt was stopped. Just under three minutes later, McTavish converted his own tip-in of an Adam Jiricek point shot to restore the Blues’ two-goal lead.
McTavish’s sixth goal was answered by Eichel’s sixth goal 4:08 into the third period. Eichel’s backhand deflected off the skate of Blues defenseman Cam Fowler and past Hofer.
St. Louis responded with three unanswered goals, beginning with Snuggerud’s beautiful wrist shot at 8:21 of the third period. Holloway then struck at the 10:29 mark and added a power-play marker 16:05 into the third frame.
