Martin Pospisil broke a late third-period tie and the Calgary Flames won for the first time this season with a 4-2 victory over the host Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
Rookie Aydar Suniev collected one goal and one assist to post his first career multi-point effort in his 10th career game over parts of three seasons. Adam Klapka and Yegor Sharangovich both tallied once for the Flames, who lost their first five games of the campaign.
Goaltender Dustin Wolf made 23 saves.
Beckett Sennecke and Leo Carlsson replied for the Ducks, who received a 32-save performance from goalie Lukas Dostal.
With overtime looming, Pospisil zoomed up the ice, faked a shot until he moved to the right faceoff dot and whipped a low shot into the cage with 4:22 remaining.
Sharangovich added an empty-net goal three minutes later to round out the scoring.
The Flames have won 58 consecutive games when they score four or more goals. They have won 11 of the last 13 visits to Anaheim (11-0-2).
Calgary may sit at the bottom of the league standings, but played better after losing to the visiting Ducks 4-2 on Saturday.
The Flames had the early edge in play on Tuesday and were rewarded when Klapka opened the scoring at 8:32 with a seeing-eye shot from the high slot.
Anaheim responded with a pair to take the lead. Sennecke put the hosts on the board at 12:09 when he stole a puck at his blue line, sprung himself for a breakaway and converted a high shot during 4-on-4 play.
Carlsson then put Anaheim ahead with a power-play goal two minutes later when he buried a top-shelf shot from the right faceoff dot.
With his assist on Carlsson’s goal, Mikael Granlund became the first player in franchise history to start a season with a six-game point streak.
Suniev pulled Calgary even with his second goal in as many games when he found the mark with a one-timer from the slot at 8:02. The goal came seconds after Calgary failed to convert during a full two-minute 5-on-3 advantage.
With forwards Cutter Gauthier and Ryan Poehling sidelined due to injuries suffered in the first half of the home-and-home series with Calgary, the Ducks summoned 2025 first-round draft pick Roger McQueen for his NHL debut.
