The New York Giants are signing cornerback Greg Newsome II to a one-year contract worth up to $10 million, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.
Newsome was a first-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2021 and traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars last October for cornerback Tyson Campbell and a swap of late-round draft picks. He became a free agent at the end of the season.
Newsome, 25, played in 17 games (16 starts) between the two teams and had 29 tackles, one interception and six passes defensed.
In 71 career games (58 starts), Newsome has 207 tackles, one sack and four interceptions, with one of them returned for a touchdown.
The Giants had a need at the position after Cor’Dale Flott decided Monday to sign a three-year, $45 million contract with the Tennessee Titans instead of re-sign with New York.
