DMV Spotlight this week shines a light on the Humane Rescue Alliance. Guest, Lisa LaFontaine, president and CEO of Humane Rescue Alliance discussed programs offered to help low income residents keep their pets, opportunities for young people to treat pets kindly and advocating for animals. LaFontaine also talked about the medical services offered to pet owners including weekly low cost vaccines and spay and neuter services. LaFontaine also discussed the unique role of Animal Control Officers who rescue both pets and wildlife from neglect, abuse and other dangerous situations. Humane Law Enforcement officers also keep animals safe and bring cases all the way through court proceedings. Also highlighted: upcoming fundraisers including: The 2nd Annual Meow DC on Saturday, May 30th at Dock 5 at Union Market, described as fantastic feline fun and the popular Pasta for Pets on Feb 29th at Eastern Market in SE, DC.
